Promotion

December and January are probably two of the nicest months in Mojácar. The weather is beautiful and warm. You can immediately distinguish the tourists from the local residents. The tourists are all in shorts and flip-flops and we are all bundled up. Mojácar has never been properly promoted as a winter area yet we boast the best weather in Europe at this time of year. I see that our town hall has done a brilliant job on their promotional campaign and actually come up with a rather effective advert. But WHY ARE ALL OF THE ADVERTS IN MOJACAR????? We are flooded with the best campaign we have ever had but it is aimed at us and we already live here and love the place. It should be all over Norway and Germany and England; where they are all freezing and soaking wet. We would know that they had spent the advertising budget properly when we started seeing northern Europeans coming to visit, fill the hotels and restaurants and buying houses. No, we didn’t even get one advert placed in Turre, the town next door. While I am on the subject why don’t you listen to Bernard Cribbins' version of “Hole in the Ground” I think it is very appropriate considering what is happening in our village.

  1. Tourist Office informs: The campaing has been exhibited in various locations like MURCIA ( at the big comertial center during christmas shopping season, big villages, Alicante ( differents locations) and Almería ( Roquetas and Aguadulce). With that campaing we are looking for the potential clients at the nearby market.

  2. I remember very clearly in the 1980s that there were many pensioners from the UK who spent the entire winter in the Pueblo Indalo and loved to be here. Why was that ever stopped? Instead of bringing in young Spanish @ €15 a night and let them terrify the local inhabitants with their drunker behaviour, why not reopen the Pueblo Indalo for the winter guests again? Val Kerrigan

  3. The pensioners were great supporters of the local bars and restaurants in the area. And why not reopen the Hotel Moresco for this purpose. Bring life back to Mojacar NOT the young Spanish drunks who were here recently. It was genuinely frightening. I was nearly forced off the beach road at about 8.30 one evening by a crowd of yobs! 4. I am visiting Mojacar, with family and friends, in August. My son is a keen guitarist so I would like to buy him an inexpensive spanish guitar, localy,as the costs of taking ours is prohibitive. We could leave it at our villa so others could use it. I bought one from a spanish gift shop, many years ago, and it was keenly priced and of good quality. I wonder if there are any shops, in or around Mojacar, that we could visit?

    1. Hi Matt - Granada is famous for its hand-made guitars (if you fancy a trip there). Locally, I would guess that you could find one in Vera - perhaps in the large cigarette shop opposite the town hall.
